HappyCardFactory Designs is the home of CityGirl Planners, and I am Rebecca the creative force and paper monarch behind the company. I think it’s important that you know a little more about me as I guide you through the wonderful world of paper crafts, planners, and organization.
How I came to be the proud leader in this little corner of the craft world is somewhat of a long story, so I’ll give you the Cliff Note version. I have been married to my best friend for the past 25 years and we have two beautiful boys together. We are a Baptist family which means we spent quite a lot of time with friends and family at church get-togethers with amazing food and amazing companionship. In the rare instances when I am not working, I am spending time reading, training my Great Dane, and nerding out on all that is Sci-Fi. Because we are a God loving family we strongly believe in the mission of compassion, love, and encouragement. Paper can be an amazing source of encouragement as seen in the booming card industry and an equally engaging source of love in the memory book world.
I started seeking out beautiful paper, bright colors, vibrant textures, and unique combinations. I started selecting them based on my own designs and turning them into cards. The first year I made handmade Christmas cards the response was overwhelming. Many of the older ladies at my church commented that they harkened back to a time when people focused on quality and care rather than material presents. I realized then that my paper crafts were a ministry in the making, and if I could bring joy to others with this simple, yet dynamic, process then I was called to do exactly that.
My calling was confirmed to me one day when my son’s friend came over and complimented me on a card I made his parents. He mentioned he had a similar ministry at his school; they would give out cards to fellow students that were struggling. They called it The Happy Card Encouragement Factory. Inspired, and impressed, by this young man I asked if I could borrow that name for my company and this blog. He said yes, on the condition that when I get rich he gets a 10% cut!
Since that date, my blog and my company have grown tremendously and I have had the great honor of sharing my mission of love and crafting with many customers and readers. I have shortened the name down to HappyCardFactory Designs but I’m still very much dedicated to encouragement. I would actually like to encourage you to read on, share your gifts with the world, and remember that no matter what you do in life, you should do it with passion and a pure heart.
Thank you for reading; I look forward to learning more about you.
