World Book Day is the 7th of March, so the Kuretake Design Team decided to celebrate by making lots and lots of bookmarks. My niece is like me in that she is an avid reader. I took the challenge one step further by making a companion reading list. That way she can keep her place and jot down the books she has read this year. When looking online for ideas, I found a cute pattern to simulate and that got me thinking. Why not just make a black and white drawing so she can color it anyway she wants. So out came my ZIG Memory System® Millennium pen.
Since I cannot draw to save my life, I used my Boss Kut Gazelle with Make the Cut. I brought the pattern in and let my machine draw. It will only draw the outlines as it doesn’t know the difference between a blade and pen, so I blackened in the lines to look like a coloring book page. I decided I wanted to use a thicker tipped pen but still use the same pattern, so I went with my ZIG Memory System® Writer in black for the bookmark. I really like both pieces colorless, but I think my niece will have more fun with them when she starts coloring away.
Here is a little sampling of the bookmark with color. It was done with a few of the ZIG® Art & Graphic Twin markers. Lends a nice watercolor effect.
I finished my piece off with a little soft and fluffy Trendy Twine in Tickled Pink. Black, white and pink, perfect color combos!
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my new Design Team project. Have a great day and happy crafting!
